Cam and Lowly Panthers Add Misery to Eagles season

If this Eagles could not get any worse, it already did on Monday night.  The two teams met in the 2003 NFC Championship, but the atmosphere before the game was completely different and the Linc was not as crowded.  The Panthers who came into the game with the worst record in the NFC at 2-8 won 30-22 thanks to second year quarterback Cam Newton.  Newton threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for 2.  The only bright part for the Eagles was Alex Henery who was perfect in all 3 field goal attempts.  After Henery kicked a field goal on the first drive, Newton threw for 2 touchdown passes on the Panthers next 2 drives which put the Eagles down 14-3.  With the Eagles down 14-6 in the second quarter, there was another bright spot for them.  Rookie Bryce Brown ran 65 yards for a touchdown, but the Eagles elected to go for 2 points to tie it, but it was unsuccessful.  Brown scored another touchdown in the third quarter which would make it a 22-21 Eagles lead.  However on the next possession, Brown fumbled which led to a Panthers field goal.  On the Eagles next drive, they lost on downs on a 4th and 1 play and the Panthers would get the ball on their 40.  Newton ran for his second touchdown to give the Panthers a 8 point lead.  The Eagles had one more chance to tie the game, but Brandon Boykin fumbled which gave any chances to tie away.
